About us
It all began when a stray chicken came on to our property, many moons ago. Doug and Val had two small children so decided to keep her as we could not find her owner. Doug built a hen house and we had one egg a day….. Then the idea was to get some “friends” for her. So we kept chickens til well after the children left home and we still have them today. THEN, we started going to agricultural shows and saw such a wide variety of breeds and fell in love with the Sultans and Yokohamas. Lately we have added Polish frizzle Bantams to our livestock. We learned a lot by our own mistakes in incubation and rearing but after more years we managed to get a flock of each variety which could pay for themselves by our selling the fertile hatching eggs.🥚 This has gone down very well as they are exceptionally beautiful 🤩 and very practical. These pets provide their own keep, use up veggie scraps, scarify and manure the lawn and do not need taking for a walk😊. So if you would like to have such lovely creatures to provide eggs and interest for family and friends, please get in touch.
As a small business, we pride ourselves, as much as possible, on personal attention and dedication to every detail.
We have sold very successfully on eBay for about 6 years, but from 2025 their new policy apparently does not allowing the sale of “fertile hatching eggs”, so I am finding ways on other platforms that are available.
The story behind RARE BREED FERTILE HATCHING EGGS began with a fascination for rare chicken breeds…especially SULTAN, YOKOHAMA AND POLISH FRIZZLE BANTAMS. We have kept various breeds of chickens over many years from the very large Brahmas to Frizzle Polish bantams. Inspired by the beauty of Sultans and Yokohamas at a show, we wanted to breed them. Rare breed chickens add a living, moving beautiful creature to a still landscape.
What color eggs do Sultan chickens lay?
Sultan chickens lay 50+ small white eggs a year, are non-sitters, and once had a reputation of being a good table fowl – the breast being large and the flesh being delicate and white. Early breeders made outcrosses to Polish chickens to add new blood. The breed has only one recognized color – White.
How rare are Sultan chickens?
To keep Sultans from going extinct, they have been mixed with other crested breeds, such as Houdan and Polish chickens. Today, Sultan chickens are so rare that The Livestock Conservancy has listed them as “Critical” on their endangered breeds list.
We breed these RARE BREED chickens for others to enjoy them too and the species to become less rare and off the critically endangered list.

Our RARE BREED FERTILE HATCHING EGGS are special because of their rarity and beauty. The crests of the cockerels are quirky but endearing. The feathers on their five-toed feet look exotic strutting around on the lawn. Also with their friendly nature they are excellent for a trial of a breed that children will love.
At RARE BREED FERTILE HATCHING EGGS, we ensure our hatching eggs are top-notch through careful raising and care. We test for fertility and observe the cockerel "treading" on the backs of his hens regularly. We date our eggs so that best fertility rates can be achieved.
When you purchase from RARE BREED FERTILE HATCHING EGGS, expect great communication and helpful advice. Delivery is always on a ROYAL MAIL 24, in protective poly boxes and extra cushioned boxing around.
